INTERNSHIP & PLACEMENT DIVISION

Internship programme at Raksha Shakti University

‘On-the-job’ experience can be as valuable as anything learned in studies. After all, one cannot really understand what a job is all about until the person has not worked in that environment. Internships are great opportunities to work directly with the people who have experience in the role the students aspire to, and their knowledge of the job and working environment will give a greater understanding of what it’s all about and what the students need to do to progress.

The Raksha Shakti University students are doing Internships in a range of sectors including engineering, IT, forensic laboratories, Management, NGOs, Think-tanks, Security forces, PSUs and many more. Throughout the internship, the students develop a variety of soft skills, including communication skills, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, creative problem solving and social networking. Experience is indeed a crucial factor for employers when deciding who gets their foot in the door and hence it is strongly advised to all RSU students to do one or more internships to ensure they have a competitive advantage over their peers. For certain courses, internships are the integral part of their curriculum or dissertation. However, regardless to the requirement of curriculum, all the students of RSU are encouraged and facilitated by the university to do internships.

Internships can be as short as a week or as long as 4 to 5 months. The internships can be paid or unpaid; full-time, part-time or virtual (work from home/campus).

Some of the key advantages of doing internships include:

  1. A chance to develop knowledge and skills in a particular field or industry
  2. Exploring different roles to see which one would like to pursue
  3. Getting insight into the way businesses work and what challenges they face on a daily basis
  4. The opportunity to create a network of contacts
  5. Gaining valuable work experience to set you apart from other candidates
  6. Applying the concepts and strategies of academic study in a live work environment
  7. Strengthens the CV and make the candidate more employable
  8. Acquiring university module credits
  9. Some of the internships are paid.
  10. Opportunity to be absorbed as a full-time employee

Following a successful internship. it is not unusual for employers to make a full-time job offer to their interns. Many employers use internships as a ‘try before you buy’ option and already have plans to recruit the permanent employees from the pool of interns.
