School of Maritime, Air and Space Studies (SMASS)

India, having a long coastline, air and space initiatives, activities and for its geographical position has always been exposed with multiple and complex maritime, air and space security and strategic challenges. Therefore, to explore and assess the trajectory of law, policy andgovernance affecting the maritime, air and space security, Raksha Shakti University established School of Maritime, Air and Space Studies (SMASS).

National maritime, air and space security, as the core thrust area of research, training and extension, School of Maritime, Air and Space Studies (SMASS) prophecy to provide excellent academic, research, training support to national agencies in ensuring national maritime, air and space security of nation.

School of Maritime, Air and space studies (SMASS) aims:

  • To equip with knowledge on contemporary advanced issues and practices on maritime, air and space security related development.
  • To identify legal, policy and governance issues interfacing the security issues in the areas of maritime,air and space economy.
  • To acquire and disseminate sound understanding of role and responsibility of blue water navies, armed forces, air force, marine police and space industry in the development of national maritime, air and space security industry.
  • To understand the its impact and integrationof law, policy and governance in the area of national maritime, air and space security.
  • To become a leading nodal school of excellence in teaching, research, training and extension activities in the area of maritime, air and space studies and to assist national security and intelligence agencies in relevant areas.
  • To become a national think tank by providing policy oriented research, training and extension supportin the areas of maritime, air and space studies to national security agencies.
  • Filling up the gap of quality research on the contemporary issues of maritime, air and space studies.
  • To become a school of excellence in executive trainings in the area of maritime, air and space security.

Students undergoing any degree course and having research interest in the areas of national maritime, air and space security issues and various developments may apply for internship with RSU School of Maritime, Air and Space Studies (SMASS) by sending an email (smass@rsu.ac.in) along with brief curriculum vitae, statement of motivation and area of research interest. Student intern may be offered the slots of internship purely on the basis of availability, needs and selection by Dean (SMASS).
