Programmes & Course Objectives

Raksha Shakti University (RSU) will start first batch of B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (Specialization in Cyber Security) from academic year 2017-18. As RSU is first of its kind universities in all India and offers courses related to internal security to create trained, effective and efficient manpower which can help in the various sectors of Internal Security in India. This course in Computer Science & Engineering with specialization “Cyber Security” will help in fulfilling this particular objective of this University.

Information Technology and Cyber security are emerging areas in the field of Computer Science & Engineering. Information Technology is the application of computers to store, study, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, or information, often in the context of a business or other enterprise which are under threat of technology crimes with advancement of new technology and use of technologies in daily life. Cyber security offers a solution which comprises processes and practices designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. In a computing context, security includes both cyber security and physical security. This program will offer many areas for specialization including: securing network and allied infrastructure, securing applications, security testing, information testing, information systems auditing, penetration testing, forensic investigation, digital forensics science etc.

M.Tech. Cyber Security is interdisciplinary, innovative and new course which will jointly run by Information Technology and Telecommunication Dept. of RSU. In today’s era, many aspects of our lives rely on the Internet and computers, including communications (email, cell phones), transportation (traffic control signals, car engine systems, airplane navigation), government (birth/death records, social security, licensing, tax records), finance (bank accounts, loans, electronic pay checks), medicine (equipment, medical records), and education (virtual classrooms, online report cards, research). The increasing volume and sophistication of Information security threats– including targeting phishing scams, data theft, and other online vulnerabilities–demand that we remain vigilant about securing our systems and information. The average unprotected computer (i.e. does not have proper security controls in place) connected to the Internet can be compromised in moments. Thousands of infected web pages are being discovered every day. Hundreds of millions of records have been involved in data breaches. New attack methods are launched continuously. These are just a few examples of the threats facing us, and they highlight the importance of Cyber Security as a necessary approach to protecting data and systems. Cyber security involves protecting the information and systems we rely on everyday—whether at home, work or College.

Digital Forensics Expert each involved in a wide range of investigation of cybercrimes such a cyber- terrorism, banking frauds, insurance frauds, social media crimes, data breach, data theft, malware, hacking etc. Cyber Forensic experts are involved to identify and analyze the digital evidences with high tech cyber forensics tools and methodology in pursuit of evidences. Tasks include recovering data from digital media, analysis of records to establish the location of a device, uncovering data trails, and careful documentation of the investigation, presenting findings and acting as an expert witness in court. Various subjects will be taught by our expert faculties like, Cyber Forensics, Memory Forensics, Network Forensics, Cyber Law, Vulnerability assessment and Penetration testing, Malware Analysis, Cyber Auditing, Risk and Compliance, Machine learning and Python for cyber experts etc.

Raksha Shakti University (RSU) has started first batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security & Cyber Forensics from academic year 2017-18. Landscape of the Cyber World is fast changing by internet of things (connected devices), internet of people (Social Networking Sites), Internet of Commerce (Online Shopping Sites) and New Generation Intelligent Network of Telecommunication leading to different possibilities of Cyber Crime, which is now not only restricted to computers and its networks, but has also extended to almost every electronic device. The Cyber Criminals can only be defeated through the usage and knowledge of Cyber Crime Investigative tools and Hi-tech Cyber Forensics. The strengthening of the knowledge and the skills of key stake holders for better understanding of all facets of Cyber Crime Investigations, Evidence Collections and Cyber Forensics through a structured theoretical and hands on Diploma Programme is of great relevance. The participants will be exposed to the latest tools and technologies to make them well trained, proficient and Certified Cyber Forensic Examiners (CFEs) to handle Cyber Crime Investigation and logical Processing of digital evidence.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Security Communication & Technology is a one year full time course comprising two semesters covering foundational concepts through practical knowledge. The course is the blend of concepts related to communication tools, wireless technology, computer basics, cyber security and digital forensics. The knowledge required to be able to serve efficiently in the domains of Policing, Military/Para-Military bodies is imparted to solve the wireless and cyber related technical crimes. Candidates will have thorough conceptual understanding and learnings of practical gadgets thus used. This program adds the value to carve a niche in this field in the budding requirement of technological advancement in our defense, law enforcement and internal security as the crimes are now shifting more to the communication and cyber platforms. The well-structured and well thought out planning of this course is unique in itself and is one of its kind in such Universities so far. The program incorporates real world experience through case study and internship and strengthens the fundamentals of not just communication, but also of the cyber security and IT laws subsequently, which are now essentially required to serve for our nation vide any field of work.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Machine Learning is a one year full time course comprising two semesters covering foundational concepts through hands-on learning of leading analytical tools. The program is a blend of data science, deep learning, business analytics and visualization with the application of advanced analytics models for artificial intelligence, deep learning and cognitive computing. The program curriculum covers best in-class modeling and data analytics techniques, through a combination of lectures, a capstone projects and assignments. The course enhances analytical skills to drive impactful insights from data using tools such as Python, Tableau, Big Data, Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, SparkMLlib and Tensor Flow. This course seeks to present you with a wide range of data analytic techniques and is structured around the broad contours of the different types of data analytics, namely, descriptive, inferential, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Candidates will not only acquire theoretical knowledge of data science tools, but will also gain exposure to business perspectives and industry best practices through case studies, in-class projects, a live capstone project, hackathons, guest lectures and industry mentorship sessions.

With increase in the usage of the Internet, there has been an exponential increase in the use of online social media and networks on the Internet. Websites like Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Google+, FourSquare, Pinterest, Tinder, and the likes have changed the way the Internet is being used. However, widely used, there is a lack of understanding of privacy and security issues on online social media. Privacy and security of online social media need to be investigated, studied and characterized from various perspectives (computational, cultural, psychological, etc.). Student completing the course will be able to appreciate various privacy and security concerns (spam, phishing, fraud nodes, identity theft) on Online Social Media and Student will be able to clearly articulate one or two concerns comprehensively on one Online Social Media, this will be achieved by homework.

Partenship and Services

Aarogya – Setu RSU Research Assistance

Dedicated RSU Team is working on the Arogya-Setu and ITIHAS dashboard with the coordination of AMC and AUDA team.

The Team Provides following details to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Ah-medabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) team on a daily basis:

  1. Details of specific society / area that fall under the Pink (Immediate Scrutiny Area) and Amber (Immediate Watchlist Area) (Main Recipient: Mr Atul Gor, CEO, AUDA). Micro level Analysis of Pink and amber area being done by the RSU Team using ITIHAS Dashboard and Google-Map. Now, ITIHAS dashboard gives the details of area within 300×300 meter. Mapping of this region with the Google-Map is being done by the RSU team to identify the specific area (pole, society, circle, etc.)
  2. Data regarding the daily download status of Arogya-Setu APP and Bluetooth Proximity to the AMC team. (Main Recipients:. Mr Nitin Sangwan, Deputy Municipal Commissioner West Zone and Dr. Om Prakash, Deputy Municipal Commissioner East Zone). This data is being mapped with insight document being sent by the Yatindra sir (Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Gota) and ward wise actionable report is being prepared by the RSU team.
  3. A daily consolidated report of Amber and Pink area is also sent to the AMC and AUDA :From the printer icon available in below figure, amber and pink region of Ahmedabad city is being identified on daily basis and consolidated report is being prepared by the RSU team.
  4. On daily basis list of people having the symptoms of COVID19 is being sent to the AUDA and AMC team.

RSU data becomes the basis for the AUDA and AMC to send “Dhanvantari-Rath” to the Immediate Scrutiny area and Immediate Watchlist Area.

Based on our report AUDA team is sending the details to AMC team. AMC team sending this report to respective ward representative. Respective ward representative closely monitors the area or so-ciety (300×300 meter) and identify the suspect. If he/she is positive then he/she can be hospitalised closely monitored or Medicines from the urban health centre can be provided. “Dhanvantari-Rath” is also being sent to these places and distributions of medicines is also being carried out.

General Computer Programming Lab (GCPL):

This lab helps to understand the basic terminology used in computer programming by using different data types in a computer program. Students can also design programs involving decision structures, loops and functions. Students can perform various practicals of different programming language like C, C++,JAVA. HTML, Python, PHP ,etc.

Network Security Lab (NSL):

Network Security Lab is to conduct basic and applied research in the security of critical networks and network components. Students performing various practicals in the areas of network scanning ,network and systems reliability, robust protocol design, peer-to-peer systems; mobile and wireless systems, high-performance, scalable cluster-based systems; the measurement of deployed, wide-area systems, such as the Web and content distribution networks; pervasive computing; cloud computing; and virtual machine technology.

Cyber Forensics and Malware Analysis Lab (CFMAL):

Cyber Forensics and Malware Analysis Lab is dedicated for the Disk Forensics, Memory Forensics, Mobile Forensics, Network Forensics, Operating System Forensics, Browser Forensics, E-mail Forensics and Malware Analysis. Cyber Forensics science arises as a result of the evolution of technology and as such should continue progressing in order to cover the analysis of new use cases for the prosecution of cybercriminals.

Vulnerability Analysis and Penetration Testing Lab (VAPTL):

Vulnerability Analysis and Penetration Testing Lab is designed to learn the practical side of vulnerability assessments and penetration testing in a safe environment. An online lab environment is provided where beginners can make their first step into penetration testing. The online hacking labs contain real-world scenarios with systems and devices that can be found on most company networks. Here, students will find vulnerable Windows, Linux and Android hosts, webservers, mail servers, firewalls, web applications and many more systems, services and applications. Every system in the labs is uniquely configured to contribute to a specific learning experience that involves one or more attack vectors.

Wireless Communication and Technology Lab (WATL):

The laboratory is setup to provide theoretical understanding and hands-on experience in this rapidly growing discipline. Since its inception the WATL has been investigating a wide range of problems in the basic theory and practical design strategies for wireless communication systems and networks.The lab facility can be used to investigate the problems in the fields of Wireless Channel Modelling in Time, Frequency and Space, Communication over Dispersive Wireless Channels and Cognitive Wireless Networks.

Data Science and Machine Learning Lab (DSMLL):

The Data Science & Machine Learning laboratory is involved in projects related to Machine Learning, Vision & Learning, Structured Signal Processing, and Decision & Control.The research and practice problem includes (i) dealing with high dimensional data via feature selection and feature discretization; (ii) social computing, social media mining, group understanding, and interaction; (iii) integrating multiple data sources to overcome ambiguity and uncertainty, (iv) employing domain knowledge for effective mining and information integration, and (v) assisting human experts by developing effective methods of ensemble learning, semi-supervised learning, and active learning with hierarchical classification, subspace clustering, and metadata.

Main objective of this lab is to teach the basic concepts of fundamentals of computer. Students can learn how to work with different applications of MS-Office like MS-Word, MS-Excel, &Power-Point, etc.

23. I am diploma student; can I get admission in B. Tech. in CSE at SITCS?
The lateral entry admissions (Diploma to Degree admissions) are governed by the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), Govt. of Gujarat. You need to follow the instructions after the announcement from ACPC, in this regard.
24. Can I do B. Tech. in CSE / M.Tech. in CS / PGDICS&CF / M.Sc. in Digital Forensics part time?
No, we only offer full time courses.
25. What are the technical activities conducted in your school?
SITCS is organizing seminar, workshop, expert talks, technical quiz and conference on regular interval during the semester/year. Students are also being motivated to participate in such technical event organized by other university or institutions.
26. What is the minimum knowledge I need to have when I join your school?
